Slab Models Beneath Central Myanmar Revealed by a Joint Inversion of Regional and Teleseismic Traveltime Data

چکیده

The intermediate-depth (50–180 km) seismicity beneath Myanmar provides direct evidence of the subducting Indian slab. However, historic lack regional seismic observations leads to previous low-resolution models that show large variations in slab geometry Myanmar. depth extent and morphology are still poorly known. In this study, we conduct a joint inversion teleseismic P-wave traveltimes from recently installed networks image velocity structures central by adopting an eikonal equation-based traveltime tomography method. contain total 6,069 first arrivals 29,787 differential traveltimes. Based on our tomographic results studies, north inferred have deep stagnant segment lying above 660-km discontinuity MTZ, but whether it connected with shallow dipping cannot be confirmed. Inversion for interface structure using teleseismic traveltime residuals

An inversion method is presented for the reconstruction of interface geometry between two or more crustal layers from teleseismic traveltime residuals. The method is applied to 2-D models consisting of continuous interfaces separating constant-velocity layers. The forward problem of determining ray paths and traveltimes between incident wave fronts below the structure and receivers located on t...

3D joint inversion of seismic traveltime and gravity data: a case study

Joint inversion of different geophysical datasets is an effective way to eliminate non-uniqueness in geophysical inversion problems. In this paper, we focus on a case study of joint inversion of seismic traveltime and gravity observations. The results are encouraging and we can have confidence that, comparing traveltime tomography alone, joint inversion of seismic traveltime and gravity data im...

Three-dimensional joint inversion of traveltime and gravity data across the Chicxulub impact crater

[1] In 2005 an extensive new seismic refraction data set was acquired over the central part of the Chicxulub impact crater, allowing us to image its structure with much better resolution than before. However, models derived from traveltime data are limited by the available ray coverage and the nonuniqueness that is inherent to all geophysical methods. Therefore, many different models can fit th...

Wave-equation traveltime inversion

This paper presents a new traveltime inversion method based on the wave equation. In this new method, designated as wave-equation traveltime inversion (WT), seismograms are computed by any full-wave forward modeling method (we use a finitedifference method). The velocity model is perturbed until the traveltimes from the synthetic seismograms are best fitted to the observed traveltimes in a leas...
